This sculpture is a tribute to the sacred animals of modern civilization. The shape you see is based on an entire Holstein cow hide. The animal is memorialized through this tribute. I choose the Holstein because she is a ubiquitous representative of the high production modern world. This piece is constructed from 3/4" spruce construction plywood. Both material(common spruce)and subject(common milking cow) are united to speak of human labor, our interdependent relationship with our domestic animals and trees and how they hold a major stake in our physical and spiritual being. This piece measures 10 feet long, 8 feet wide and stands 4 feet high.
